The Solstice Quartet brings inspiration from the hard bop jazz genre originating in the United States in the 1950s and 1960s. In contrast to the bebop, hard-bop offers a more gritty and bluesy feeling with a heavier playing style and a more unkempt tone of improvisation. This era of jazz became popular with Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers and Horace Silver. Aside from the selected tunes from that era the group will also perform original compositions as well.

The Solstice Quartet 受美國1950 & 1960年代硬式鮑勃爵士影響，樂風有別於傳統鮑勃樂，硬是鮑勃演奏的方式比較粗獷，也受到藍調影響，有著更重的律動和狂放不羈的感覺。這個時代的爵士樂，隨著Art Blakey和他的樂團Jazz Messengers，以及Horace Silver等人的，慢慢被帶向主流。除了帶來一系列硬是鮑勃的音樂，我們也會帶來一些自己創作的歌曲。
