The band members are: Kenyatta on drums and lead vocals, Ray on lead guitar and vocals, San Nio on bass guitar, Hugo Bandi on guitar and vocals, and Howard Chou on piano, sax(alto) and vocals.

Abe Thompson aka Nbugu Kenyatta, a native of New Orleans Louisiana, has been playing music for over 40+ years and holds a degree in Music Education. “I have played with a host of New Orleans great musicians as well as other great musicians. My group, the Kenyatta Funksters, formerly ARRK TU and also The Kenyatta Trio have been playing in Taiwan for over 22 years at all the pubs and other venues here. The group specializes in funk, reggae, rock, blues, jazz and a variety of other music. I’ve a few CD’s to my credit as well: Peace and Love, New Orleans East Meets The Fareast, and have played on others back in New Orleans such as Chocolate Milk, Eddie Bo, Wilson and Earl Turbington and a host of others. We’re in the process of doing another called “A Stroke of Grace”, actually scheduled for release sometime this year and hope to have it out soon.   So, we’re looking forward to playing for you and all who enjoy great music, peace n love, Kenyatta.

Ray Anthony a self-taught Singaporean guitar player, master of Blues and Rock guitar. Started playing professionally from 1977 onwards with Singapore band The Grade, which made a name for themselves at the Tropicana disco with renditions of Pop, Disco, Classic Rock, and Rock n’ Roll. The Grade later toured Bangkok, Hamburg, Amsterdam as a showband. 1967-1969: Ray performed with a Soul band (Gogol Mode) and a Blues band (Appendix to Part 1) while he was in England.1970-1976: Ray was founder of two Rock Bands in Singapore, Fried Ice and Heritage, playing mostly Classic Rock. During this time he earned himself the title of Jimi Hendrix of Singapore. 1980-1985: Ray with Singapore band the Jacks, were hired to work at the Regency Hotel, Taipei, and also various other venues in Taipei. When The Jacks disbanded, Ray continued to work with different bands and musicians, and also as a solo artiste, at various venues in Taipei and around Taiwan.

Hugo Bandi originally from Los Angeles, has been playing for many years in LA and elsewhere. Influenced by diverse players such as Alex Lifeson, Wayne Johnson, Santana, Neal Schon, and others. He enjoys everything from Hard Rock to Salsa and enjoys sitting back in the groove and adding lush, full sounds to the music. Sannio KongDe (Sannio) is a Taiwan native who has been playing the bass guitar from his childhood. He’s been an avid player with all of the bands in Taiwan as well as foreign bands. He’s a real pocket groover and funkster. Howard is a native Taiwanese and a well rounded musician who has played for many years with my band in my early years here in Taiwan and doubles on alto saxophone as well. He studied music in England and elsewhere as well as Taiwan.

The Kenyatta Funksters plays a great variety of music, and have performed at various venues in Taipei and around Taiwan, namely Sappho, Roxy Roots, Parties, Weddings, etc. They will get you moving and grooving to the music. Hope to be playing for you soon, peace, Nbugu Kenyatta
