The Dutch Swing College Band, the longest established and still performing Jazz Band in the world (winner Dutch Export Award, Gouden Notekraker, Edison, Bird Award) celebrated its 65th Anniversary in 2010. The DSCBand is widely regarded as THE example of European Jazz History. Not only in The Netherlands, but also in the UK, France, Scandinavia, Germany, Switzerland, as well as South Africa, Australia and New Zealand, the Dutch Swing College Band is enthusiastically received and gets rave reviews from connoisseurs and the general public alike. Today, the DSCBand is alive and kicking as never before.

Bob Kaper

Bob’s musical career started in 1955. He founded ‘The Beale Street Seven’, conducted a military band and was a showbusiness entrepeneur before he joined the DSC Band in 1969. He got his nickname: ‘The Dutch Benny Goodman’ as clarinet-player due to his successful contribution to the Flashback Quartet. In 1999 he received a knighthood in the ‘Order of Oranje Nassau’ for his important contribution to the development of jazz-music.
Adrie Braat

Studied classical double bass followed by private lessons with John Clayton of the Count Basie Orchestra and at the age of 24 played with the orchestras of Boy Edgar and Jeff Reynolds. He then played with a.o. The Dixieland Pipers lead by Bert de Kort, clarinet player Jan Morks’ sextet as wel as conducting the ‘Biggles Big Band’. Adrie joined the DSCBand in 1988 and is since 2006 also the managing director of the Dutch Swing College Band.
Ton van Bergeijk

Since the age of thirteen, wild horses couldn’t drag him away from stage or studio. In the 60-ies on harmonica and ukulele with guitarist Philip Kroonenberg and in the 70-ies as solo-guitarist (Kicking Mule Records). Since then he has been in rhythm sections of many bands and orchestras including: ‘The Boulevard of Broken Dreams Orchestra’ in the 80-ies, ‘The Beau Hunks’ in the 90-ies and ‘The Metropole Orchestra’. He has also accompanied artists such as Al Gallodoro, Menno Daams and Tim Kliphuis.
Keesjan Hoogeboom

Keesjan studied classical trumpet between the ages of 8 and 16. He discovered Jazz and Dixieland music whilst listening to the records of Louis Armstrong, Bix Beiderbecke and the Dutch Swing College Band. Keesjan plays the trumpet exactly in the tradition of the Dutch Swing College Band and, with his clear musical statement of the melody, brings the DSC sound back to the successful formula of the 60’s.
Maurits Woudenberg

At the age of fourteen Maurits already had several classical concerts under his belt and had toured as a trombone soloist with a wide variety of orchestras throughout Europe. When he was twenty, Maurits was inspired by a.o. trombone player Bart van Lier to study jazz. In January 2012 he graduated “Cum Laude” at the Rotterdam Conservatory. With his spectacular soloing, Maurits adds a new dimension to the DSCBand.
Anton Burger

As a 15 year old Anton Burger won first prize at the Laren Jazz Festival with his orchestra Jazzeker. Four years later, he founded his first big band, for which he also composed the music. Anton has played with various orchestras, amongst others the New Orleans Syncopators, Radio Filharmonisch and the circus orchestra of Theatre Carré, Amsterdam. Between 2001 and 2006 he toured with the Glenn Miller Orchestra (directed by Wil Salden) throughout Europe..
Anton Burger is a much sought-after all round drummer. With his inimitable spectacular style of playing Anton pushes the Dutch Swing College Band to dizzying new heights.
David Lukács

As a young boy, David fell in love with jazz music through his fathers record collection. After his study at The Hague Royal Conservatory, David won the Kobe Jazz Award 1998. He performed all over Europe and Asia with various orchestras and as a studio musician with a.o. Caro Emerald and The Jimmy Lunceford Legacy Orchestra.
Davids playing and sound reminds of jazz legends like Lester Young, Stan Getz and Benny Goodman, ….but most of all you hear David himself!
Margriet Sjoerdsma

Singer/songwriter Margriet Sjoerdsma started singing at the age of 16 and graduated at the Rotterdam Conservatory in 2006. She got very enthousiastic reviews for her CDs ‘With the whisper of a morning’, ‘Bloom’ and ‘Drawing Circles’ in which Margriet sings her own compositions. Her latest project ‘A Tribute to Eva Cassidy’ launched January 2013 has already had great press reviews.
In 2012, the Dutch Swing College Band invited Margriet to sing the winning hit song of their composing contest ‘Frankie’, which was released on the DSCBand CD ‘Update’. As a result, Margriet is touring Europe in 2013 and 2014 with the Dutch Swing College Band.
With her unique personal approach, husky voice and cool timing, Margriet adds a catchy dimension to the swinging sounds of the Dutch Swing College Band and brings their classic jazz style right up to date!
