Jazzology was formed by 4 musicians with a diverse set of musical backgrounds – from soul, reggae, blues, funk, swing, afrobeat among others – but who share a common love of jazz. Traces of these influences can be heard in their treatment of various jazz standards and acid jazz compositions, served up over a chilled out groove. Having played together in different bands for a number of years, the quartet already has its own unique symbiosis. Thus, they tend not to favour special arrangements to create their sound, but rely more on mutual chemistry – and in their own way, pay homage to the essentials of jazz.
