Kuljelje Ljamcun Quartet 古樂樂良春五重奏

『不要讓任何人、任何機構定義你是什麼人你體內流著的祖靈的血，將引領你到達那裡。』 一位排灣族頭目
《Atavism》意為生物學的返祖現象，而在社會科學上指現代人回歸到前代、甚至古代的思維及行為模式，對我來說則是首次發現自己有排灣/斯卡羅族血緣時，那種雖震撼卻不感意外的親切，接近天啓般的時刻。當所有親族都對此無感之時，只有我對這樣的文化及血統抱持巨大的好奇與憧憬，永遠忘不了第一次翻開日治時期的戶籍謄本，就像英文中的epiphany（瞬間頓悟），好似古早的記憶倏忽湧現，找尋祖先曾經存在的證據這一責任，也突然附到我的身上，如同《刺客教條》的主角一般。這樣幽微卻神秘且不知源頭的力量，就像頭目所說的，那是祖靈透過我體內的血引領著我，最終只能將其定義為『返祖現象』。
在這場演出裡，我們會演奏我為此主題創作的一系列演奏曲「返祖三部曲」，去講述這樣的一個尋根故事。

“Atavism” means a biological phenomenon of reversion, and in social sciences, it refers to modern people reverting to the thinking and behavioral patterns of previous generations, even ancient times. For me, it was the moment I first discovered I had Paiwan/Skaro blood. That sense of familiarity, though shocking, was not unexpected—an epiphany-like moment. When all my relatives were indifferent to it, I was the only one who held great curiosity and longing for this culture and bloodline. I will never forget the first time I opened the household register from the Japanese colonial period; it was like an epiphany in English, as if ancient memories suddenly emerged. The responsibility of finding evidence of my ancestors’ existence suddenly fell upon me, like the protagonist of “Assassin’s Creed.” This subtle yet mysterious and unknown force, as the chief said, was my ancestors guiding me through the blood flowing within me. In the end, I could only define it as “atavism.”
In this performance, we will play a series of pieces I composed on this theme, “The Atavism Trilogy,” to tell such a story of seeking roots.
