This current group of mine truly represents my belief and philosophy about what being jazz musician means to me. I have realized now that the best way I can pay respect to those that have come before me, as well as those that have mentored me, is to be true to myself, therefore being as honest an artist as I can be. I like to tell people that I’m a drummer. And that’s because I AM. I represent the Blues as my native heritage, as an essential ingredient to jazz music, and as a deep feeling we all share as human beings.
