Sandbox is two brothers, Oren Dashti and Chuck Payne, coming together to have fun, play, relax, enjoy, let go, be silly and share. If everything goes right… we’ll make some music, some noise, stir up some dust… and no one will get hurt. Various special guests will join in to share the joy once in a while. Chances are you’ll hear some Jazz, Fusion, Pop… some piano solos, some drum solos, free music… Who knows…?? We’re just going to let go and see and hear what happens.

Oren Dashti

Oren is classically trained since the age of six. Over the years, Oren developed a passion for jazz and played in a variety of jazz ensembles. He studied jazz piano and composition in Israel and since then continued to perform in different venues around Asia, recently mainly in Taiwan. Oren shares his time between composing, arranging music and performing in various jazz groups.

Chuck Payne

Chuck Payne is a professional musician that just recently moved to Taipei, Taiwan from Houston, Texas in the United States. Drum set is his main instrument, but he also plays hand drums and other various instruments from around the world. He has spent most of his career playing freelance gigs of all styles, but he has also taught music and drumming privately for many years, in addition to teaching at several different high schools and middle schools back in the U.S. Chuck attended the University of North Texas as a Jazz Studies major and then continued studying music and audio engineering at Houston Community College.

For the last several years, Chuck has been dividing his time between gigging as a drummer and composing and recording music and soundtracks in his own studio for various video projects. He is very excited about relocating to Taiwan and learning from and sharing with the people that live here.
