Sexual Chocolate 是個專門演奏 “old school” 類型音樂的樂團，包括了像是 Stevie Wonder ，James Brown ，Marvin Gaye，Earth Wind and Fire，Kool and the Gang 等的音樂。 從2010年以來，各界以及全台各大 live house 邀約不斷，我們更誠摯的希望能一直為大家帶來最頂級的聽覺饗宴。 在身兼長號手/作曲編曲家/團長的 Nick Javier 帶領之下，我們所演奏的音樂皆以爵士樂(Jazz)為思考的主軸，並將觸角延伸到放克(Funk)，靈魂福音(Gospel)以及流行樂(Pop)。 現場演奏風格除了本身 “jazzy” 的本質外，附加帶來的是充滿著 James Brown 式的強大能量及韻律。 樂團成員們皆有著精湛的爵士樂，古典樂，以及搖滾樂演奏實力。融合出來的強烈律動感(Groove…)，會讓你不由自主的跟著我們的音樂動起來，這就是我們的拿手絕招。 團長Nick Javier，美國籍，畢業於美國密西根州立大學和荷蘭皇家音樂學院。他的音樂受到Miles Davis, J.J. Johnson, Charlie Parker, James Brown, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Curtis Fuller, Thelonious Monk和美國嘻哈音樂的影響。Nick並教授由兩廳院舉辦的爵士夏令營的爵士課程，並與其中的老師有Albert “Tootie” Heath 、Antonio Hart 、Michael Phillip Mossman、黃瑞豐、魏廣皓等等同台演出。2010年暑假年受日本鼓手Tomoyuki Okabe邀請在日本東京市與橫濱市演出。2011年Nick受邀參與台北爵士樂團的專輯錄音(Knives Out)。2012年參與誠品詩人節活動，與作曲家林少英、打擊手李守信、低音提琴Ronnie Lampas等重量級樂手同台。

Sexual Chocolate is a cover band that whole-heartedly believes that there’s no “school” of music better than the “old school”, specializing in the music of Stevie Wonder, James Brown, Marvin Gaye, Earth Wind and Fire, and Kool and the Gang, just to name a few.

Conceived by trombonist, bandleader, songwriter, and vocalist Nick Javier, Sexual Chocolate’s “old school” musical vision uses jazz as a foundation, but incorporates funk, soul, gospel, and pop music. Behind him, the band works a groove like James Brown’s J.B.’s, and treats jazz more as a musical action than a music genre. Plus, their shows feature their bandleader with enough energy to power a fleet of blue trucks. It’s an energy that burns full throttle, lit by the heat of Nick Javier’s masterful trombone playing, soulful voice, and the power and passion of his performance.

Sexual Chocolate is uniquely qualified to maintain the “groove” tradition. All members – Nick Javier; Ruby Pan, alto saxophone and flute; George Yeh, guitar; Sobina Chi, keyboards; Jack Ko, electric bass; Devlin Chen, drums – come from deep jazz, classical, and rock backgrounds. But their collective goal is to make you get on up and DANCE! Since hitting the scene two years ago (2010), the group has played all the major venues in Taichung, including 89K, Retro Café, as well as DC Stage in Kaoshiung, and Sappho in Taipei. They’ve even been educators in funk, presenting a master-class in groove at Hong Guang University.
