Fascinated by the music of French Gypsy guitarist Django Reinhardt, Taiwanese-Canadian guitarist Denis Chang’s spent his formative years alongside the Gypsies of France, Belgium, Holland, and Germany, where he learned to play the style of music that is now known as Gypsy Jazz. There, he learned to understand the Romany way of life, and was completely immersed in the culture. He is one of the few gadje (non-Gypsy) to have learned Romanes, the language of the Gypsies.

鍾情於Django Reinhardt的音樂的加拿大籍台裔吉他手－Denis Chang，現今為活躍於世界各地的爵士音樂人。 成長過程中，他投入許多時間與來自法國、比利時、荷蘭、德國的吉普賽人學習如何彈奏今日所謂的吉普賽爵士；在這段時間，他使自己沉浸於羅姆（Romany）文化當中，來了解吉普賽人的生活方式，可以說是Denis是極少數學習羅姆語的Gadje (非吉普賽人)，在音樂會中，他有時會以羅姆語演唱吉普賽歌曲，觀眾可以從這些不常聽見的歌曲中，在他的解釋下，透過歌曲，了解更多關於吉普賽文化與歌詞背後的涵義！ Denis Chang曾和眾多國際知名樂手同台演出，如: Les Paul, James Carter, Frank Vignola, Stochelo Rosenberg, Bireli Lagrene等等。
