Tenor Bluez……

Simon Samuel Cuschieri or “Tenor Bluez” is a one man travelling act and travels to different venues during different days of the week. Since music is a spiritual and honest form of projection than one’s spirit can stagnate if they only perform in one venue hence travelling around Taiwan and other Asian countries has become essential to retain one’ss oul…

Simon started to performing and crafting his music 11 years ago in Taiwan and throughout and throughout his career, felt more inclined to personalize classic songs by classic song writers and performers ranging from Roy Orbison, Elvis, Beatles, Eric Clapton, CCR, Jim Croce etc together with newer classics from the seventies and eighties……He feels that music today, although still containing soul, is being robbed of its spirituality by technological advances in the digital world although ironically such advances have become essential. It seems like music from the late 50’s , 60’s and 670’s was more genuine and probably more spiritual….

Simon is from Malta and works in Taichung. Malta is a pure Mediterannean Island e few miles away from Sicily. The culture and Music in Malta is typical of the latino Vibe…..

Simon has mostly played live shows in Taichung starting from a small pub called Fisherman’s Wharf, moving onto Frog’s Mexican Diner, Le Ble D’Or, and numerous Spanish Restaurants, A 3 year lomn weekend career at Cosby’s biker bar in Taichung,,(Pity the Government felt he had to close us down), Delux Beer Bar  (Again a victim of regulation), Tex Mex Taichung and finally performing t Marula in Taipei…..He also performs during Jazz and Art Festivals as a street performer and Weddings….

He also does many recording sessions for Taiwanese bands and had recorded various sessions with the Enzo Arbore Orchestra. Most of all however he is a lone wolf who likes to entertain audiences in the midst of the city……

Simon says that the guitar is a beautiful instrument and has many voices, such as the hollow body electric for Jazz, Texan Strat blues, Latino nylon acoustic, freeway steel string,  Country twang, woman tone and the list goes on…

His style has evolved in mainly  string personalized classic songs accompanied by a soulful, Mediterranean voice with tenor and baritone classical influences…hence the name..”Tenor Bluez”

“I love Orbison, Elvis, Newer Classics, Gypsy Kings, and Sinatra however I feel the need to do them my way…..
